Fishing with a Downrigger

Downrigger fishing introduces a fresh approach to trolling, offering a unique experience that may require some adjustment initially. However, once you start reeling in catches with this method, reverting to traditional heavy tackle will seem outdated. Unlike conventional trolling, detecting a strike can be as subtle as a slight movement in your rod tip or Downrigger pulley. When a fish bites, your rod tip rises, the line briefly slackens, and suddenly you’re engaged in a battle with no added weight.

Main Body and Features

The main body of the Muddycreek Tackle, LLC downrigger stands as a testament to precision engineering and rugged durability. Crafted from solid aluminum, its machined components are meticulously bolted together, ensuring steadfast reliability in the harshest of conditions. At its heart lies an 80-foot-pound high-torque motor, ready to tackle the toughest of trolling tasks with ease. A ball bearing swivel offers 360-degree range of motion, effortlessly adjustable to one of 16 locations every 22.5 degrees with the pull of the larger of the two black knobs, located at the rear, left side. This versatile feature allows anglers to position the downrigger precisely where needed, optimizing bait presentation for maximum effectiveness. Equipped with a digital display and controller, navigating the downrigger’s settings is intuitive and seamless. Additionally, the boom pivot boasts a spring-loaded pin, enabling swift adjustment from the unpinned horizontal setting to the pinned 60- and 90-degree settings, utilizing the smaller of the two black knobs, located at the left side of the boom pivot. When you lift it from the horizontal setting, it will lock into place at the 60-degree setting. The integration of up to three rod holders further enhances functionality, catering to the needs of multi-angling setups. Whether mounted via the standard mount or the Track Assembly System, this downrigger offers unparalleled versatility and performance. With an 8-inch line spool attached to the motor and an integrated line guide below the boom pivot, every aspect of this the Muddycreek Tackle Downrigger is designed with the angler’s convenience and success in mind.

Rod Holders

Muddycreek Tackle, LLC Rod Holder Tubes are designed for convenience and durability. Crafted from aircraft quality 6061-T6 anodized aluminum, these tubes are not only robust but also resistant to corrosion. The internal hardware, constructed from stainless steel, ensures longevity and reliability in any fishing environment. Muddycreek Tackle rod tubes are removable, facilitated by a standard right-hand thread onto the rod holder, allowing for removal from the knuckle assembly whenever needed.  Additionally, these tubes feature a fully machined radius on the end, eliminating the need for a plastic cap. This unique system incorporates an O-Ring at the area where the tube threads on, compressing and absorbing vibration to prevent loosening. The pivot joint further enhances stability with a boss that fits snugly into a bore on the mating part, ensuring the aluminum housing bears the load. Both rotational and tilt joints are spring-loaded for easy single-hand operation, locking in securely at every 18 degrees with a dual pin drive mechanism. Moreover, the main part of the rod holder tubes features a drainage hole to prevent water accumulation and two holes for a gimbal bar (sold separately), accommodating gimbal butt rods with the gimbal bar for added versatility and convenience.  With such meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful features, Muddycreek Tackle, LLC Rod Holder Tubes redefine convenience and reliability for anglers everywhere.
